Disadvantages of Gambling

Filed under: Interesting and Useful Topics — dydara @ 12:23 am

Gambling is addictive and can potentially ruin you. A lot of people gamble for fun, entertainment and for intellectual pursuit. However, if you think that gambling is a road to riches or that it can dig you out of difficult financial situation then I strongly recommend that you stop immediately. You are not in control. Because of the way the gambling markets operate you are not likely to succeed. Unfortunately in my time I have witnessed many people who have gambled to escape a difficult situation only to fail and dig themselves in a much deeper hole. Find something you can earn money at and work hard at it. Do not leave your future in the lap of the gods especially if those gods are bookmakers.

Gambling is a mode of entertainment that makes use of money as a tool for betting. Though it provides fun and excitement, excessive gambling may become risky,

Addiction Profile

Gambling addiction is a severe trouble.  It is well know that men are more probable to become addicted than women, that the appeal of gambling is superior for low income people than those of above average income.

Obsessive gamblers will bet until nothing is left:  savings, family assets, and personal belongings whatever thing of value that may be pawned, sold or borrowed against.  They will have a loan from co workers,  family and friends, but will hardly ever admit it is for gambling.  They may take personal loans, write bad checks and in the end reach and pass the point of bankruptcy. In anxiety, obsessive gamblers may panic and time and again will turn to illegal activities to bear their addiction.

Harm to Families

Gamblers are to a great extent more likely to be violent with their spouses and maltreat their children.  Children of these gamblers in general do worse in school and have a suicide rate two times that of their classmates. The suicide rates for problem gamblers are considerably higher than it is for the common population. Every one out of five tries suicide, a higher rate than for alcoholism or drug addiction.

We need to consider our actions and what the consequences will be.

what’s done cannot be UNDONE.

Sometimes you don’t know what you are getting yourself into.
